The MET Gala returned on Monday (September 13) for the first time since 2019. Hollywood's biggest stars donned bold ensembles as they walked the red carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Once they made their way inside the museum, the guests were served an all plant-based menu for dinner.

Fans were given an inside look at the meal by Keke Palmer, who served as Vogue's live stream host on the carpet alongside Ilana Glazer. She posted a photo of sparse salad course that was served at the prestigious event.

"This why they don't show y'all the food," Palmer wrote, adding the tongue sticking out emoji. "I'm just playin," she added with the side eye emoji.

It wasn't long before Palmer's Instagram Story was screenshotted and shared by multiple other accounts. Many people compared the food to the meals served at the disastrous Fyre Festival back in 2017. Others said the celebrity guests should've eaten before they arrived.

This wasn't the only viral moment for Palmer at the gala, either. While interviewing Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham on behalf of Vogue, Palmer revealed she had no idea who Beckham, the son of soccer icon David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, was.

Viewers quickly took to social media to discuss the interaction, saying they were all reminded of Palmer's iconic meme where she couldn't identify an image of former Vice President Dick Cheney while participating in a lie detector test segment forVanity Fair. Though Beckham didn't seem offended by the mix-up, many viewers on Twitter declared the moment to be the "most American" thing to happen at the 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion' MET gala this year.
