Meghan Markle may be a royal but even she is no stranger to making a common beauty mistake.

On the April 22 episode of her Confessions of a Female Founder podcast, the Duchess of Sussex shared the relatable beauty fail she experienced during the initial quarantine and lockdown for the COVID-19 pandemic, per People. Joined by hair colorist Kadi Lee, Meghan explained that just like many other people did during the pandemic, she experimented with doing her own hair at home, and like many others, it did not always work out.

The duchess detailed how she first met Lee after reaching out to her friend and hair stylist Serge Normant, who did her hair for her 2018 wedding to Prince Harry, for help remedying a mishap while trying to dye her hair.

"He and I became friends after he did my hair for my wedding," she said. "So my family had just moved to California. We were staying in our friend's home. And because it was the pandemic, I kept ordering boxed hair dye. And I thought, 'I'm gonna look just like she does on the box.'"

Unfortunately for the royal, the dye job didn't turn out exactly as she had hoped.

"Instead, it was this very inky, almost Elvira-esque black hair," she said. "And I texted Serge, and he said, 'You need to see Kadi.' And you came over. I mean, we were masked and all the things. It was such an interesting time, but I remember that day so well."

That day sparked a friendship between Meghan and Lee, who even has a sweet connection with Meghan and Harry's children, 5-year-old son Prince Archie and 3-year-old daughter Princess Lilibet, who the duchess says "love Auntie Kadi."
