Diners are more than just the perfect addition to any road trip or the setting for satiating any late-night snack craving. These American mainstays are also the place to go for some of the best food around, from juicy cheeseburgers and pancakes smothered in syrup to bottomless cups of coffee to keep you awake and warm you up on even the longest night.
Using reviews, awards and accolades as well as first-hand experience, LoveFood compiled a list of the "best retro diner" in every state, the nostalgic "vintage joints" that harken back to the heyday of American diners.
According to the site, the best retro diner in all of Colorado is Pete's Kitchen. This Denver spot is a favorite in the community, serving Greek-inspired diner staples since the '40s. Pete's Kitchen, which has a 4.5 star rating on Google and more than 5,600 reviews, is located at 1962 E. Colfax Avenue.
Here is what LoveFood had to say about this "old-school" spot:
"Pete's Kitchen has stood on the corner of Colfax and Race Street in Denver since 1942. Its fluorescent sign, black leather booths, and vintage wall art are all reflective of a decade gone by — and its Greek-influenced diner dishes are to die for. Popular orders include the Greek salad, with feta cheese, hot chili peppers, olives, dolmades (stuffed vine leaves), and pita bread, and the Gyros Melt, a toasted gyro meat sandwich with cucumber sauce and fries. The joint is open 24 hours on Fridays and Saturdays."
