Pete Davidson is sharing how an emotional conversation with his mom helped him continue on his path to sobriety.

Davidson has been sober for more than a year, but it took some brutal honesty from his mother, Amy Waters Davidson, that encouraged him to clean up his act, per E! News. The Saturday Night Live alum appeared on a recent episode of Theo Von's This Past Weekend podcast where he detailed a heartbreaking chat with his mom inspired him to get sober and take better care of himself.

"My mom's the most supportive person in the world," he said. "And it got to a point where she called me when I was in rehab and she was like, 'My biggest fear is that I will turn on the news and I'll see that my son has died.'"

The devastating confession struck a chord with the King of Staten Island actor, especially since his mom is someone who tries to remain positive. He also doesn't want to be the reason for that kind of heartbreak after his father, Scott Davidson, died during the September 11 terrorist attack while serving as a firefighter in New York City.

"She's so supportive and wants to always have positivity around," he said. "That killed me. So I was like, 'Alright, can't die until she's dead.'"

He added, "I'd have to be a f---ing sociopath to not get my s--- together."

In addition to his mom, Davidson had close friends and family by his side throughout his sobriety journey, even when his behavior was admittedly "deranged" and he tried to push them away.

"Anybody that's actually loved me and cared about me has gotten the worst wrath from me. Like, 'F--- you, leave me. Go ahead, leave me,'" he explained. When that didn't work, he began to understand how much support he had. "I was like, 'Oh s--- you're calling my bluff.' And I love you and I don't want you to go away."

Davidson appears to be in a much better place now and is even expecting his first child with girlfriend Elsie Hewitt. He has been vocal in the past about how excited he is to become a dad, calling it his dream.

"Thank God I'm sober and where I am," he said. "I'm very grateful that it happened now and with Elsie.
