Starbucks' Famous Pumpkin Spice Latte Almost Had a Different Name

Did you know that the Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks almost wasn't called the Pumpkin Spice Latte?

Peter Dukes, aka the "Father of the PSL" told Insider Magazine that he went through a few different names before deciding on Pumpkin Spice Latte. The Fall Harvest Latte and the Pumpkin Brulée Latte were both top contenders.

"The spices were really important — the nutmeg, the cardamom, the cinnamon all play an important role in drawing out the best pieces of the espresso," Dukes said, according to Insider. "So we landed on Pumpkin Spice Latte."

Fun fact: According to Insider, Dukes and his teamed created the Pumpkin Spice Latte's flavor by pouring espresso shots over pumpkin pies.
